Journey to the Cross

Journey to the Cross is an immersive, self-guided tour of the final days of Jesus Christ. It is held in the main building of West Rome Baptist Church during the week leading up to Easter Sunday. Different spaces within the building are transformed into experiences such as the Last Supper, the Garden of Gethsemane, the Praetorium, the Tomb etc. A team of researchers initially helped develop the vision and a creative team put the plan into action.

Entry to the Journey is free and moving through the journey is completely at your own pace. We encourage you to take as much time as you can in order to fully engage in the entire experience. We even have children-specific activities. It is our hope that this process will bring us to a more moving experience on Easter Sunday as we celebrate the risen Savior, Jesus Christ!

about the process

Our goal from the very beginning has been to create an environment within our church walls that feels like nowhere familiar. This is why we've chosen music specific for different areas, drapery lining the pathways, so much to see, read, feel and experience. Please feel free to take as much as you need in each area while being respectful of the different paces of other visitors.

Your guide options are twofold:

  1. With a mobile device, use this website as your guide. You'll notice throughout this digital guide several opportunities to watch corresponding videos. To experience this special media, please make sure to use headphones if possible in order to preserve the appropriate atmosphere for others.
  2. Printed guides are available as you enter the building. Corresponding videos are mentioned in the printed guide at each appropriate room and are available at journeytothecrossrome.com/videos. Again, please use headphones if possible for viewing.
